The process

From first draft to publication

Follow these steps to prepare and send your manuscript to AJATE.

  1. 01

    Prepare your manuscript

    Keep it to 15 pages including tables and references, with notes and references at the end, in current APA style.

  2. 02

    Add your title page and abstract

    Put the title, author names and affiliations on a separate page. Include an abstract of up to 200 words, plus keywords and JEL codes.

  3. 03

    Pay the processing fee

    A ₦35,000 fee accompanies each manuscript, by cheque or electronic transfer to the journal at the University of Port Harcourt.

  4. 04

    Submit your paper

    Send your manuscript in electronic form through the Submission Portal. The title and your details go to the Editor-in-Chief.

  5. 05

    Peer review

    AJATE is a peer-reviewed publication, so your manuscript is evaluated before a publication decision is made.

  6. 06

    Publication

    Accepted papers appear in one of the journal's three issues each year, in April, August or December.

Full requirements

  1. Submit manuscripts electronically, with no more than 15 pages including tables and references.
  2. Put the paper's title and the name and affiliation of each author on a separate page. Repeat the title on the first page of the text.
  3. Include keywords and JEL codes.
  4. Keep the abstract to 200 words or fewer.
  5. Include the ₦35,000 processing fee, payable to the African Journal of Applied and Theoretical Economics, University of Port Harcourt.
  6. Submit one soft copy, typed double-spaced, with notes and references listed at the end of the paper.
  7. Draw maps and diagrams neatly on high quality tracing paper so they can be reproduced.
  8. Follow the current American Psychological Association (APA) referencing style strictly.
